This thought is just in the beginning stages but… is it best to empower youth to reach for a proactive or a reactive faith? Is there even a difference?

Maybe there isn’t much difference between the two in your mind. Here’s a definition of proactive - controlling a situation by causing something to happen rather than waiting to respond to it after it happens. Reactive would then be responding after it happens.  Usually, students are taught of all the things not to do if they are Christians. (at least that’s what they remember!) So here’s my thought of the day. What if we encouraged students to pursue characteristics of Christ instead of trying not to do “bad things.”  I put that in quotes because that seems to be students reason not to do things… because it’s bad.

What if, instead of students working on their anger issues, they worked on being patient like Christ. Instead of trying to be less promiscuous, they were sexually pure, show sincerity instead of sarcasm, forgiving instead of bitter.

These are just a few examples. Could this foster students to be proactive in their daily walk? What do you think?
